Wednesday 24th June.
Heligan is one of the most mysterious estates in England. Lost to the brambles of time since the outbreak of WW1, this Sleeping Beauty was re-awakened in 1990 to become Europe’s largest garden restoration project. Today Heligan’s 200 acres are a paradise for the explorer, wildlife, plant lover and garden romantic. Its website is https://www.heligan.com/
The day will be yours to explore the gardens as you wish. The Heligan Kitchen and Steward’s House both serve refreshments or take a picnic and find a quiet spot to appreciate your surroundings.
Accessibility: The Lost Gardens of Heligan are spread over a 200-acre estate. Approximately 13 acres of this can be accessed via even paths including: Productive Gardens, Pleasure Grounds and Home Farm as well as access to the Steward’s House.
The Gardens lie on a gentle downhill gradient, so please remember this when you want to make your way back to the exit. The Jungle and Wider Estate are unfortunately not easily accessible to everyone. The gradients of the pathways to these areas are very steep and sometimes the route involves wooden boardwalk and steps. For this reason and your safety, wheelchair users and those of unstable footing are asked to refrain from entering these. Trampers are available to hire, for which pre-booking is essential (tickets.heligan.com/event-tickets/66221?)catID=63161&).
Tickets are available to purchase at the Monthly Meeting on 16 April. Other ways of getting a ticket are in the email snet direct to members on 10 April.
