The Music Performance Group is for instrumental players who are reasonably proficient, able to work from music scores, play as an ensemble, and willing to take part in public performances.

The group operates as a ‘Function Band’ e.g. the current line-up includes vocals, keyboard, drums, guitar, bass guitar and a brass section. The group meets every two weeks to rehearse an eclectic set list including covers & originals. The group occasionally performs at local gigs, also at Exmouth U3A meetings.

Aim:

  • to establish a group of musicians who are able to work amicably together, to practice and rehearse a repertoire of rock/jazz/pop/ballad style music.

Objectives:

  • to meet and rehearse on a regular basis. The Group meet fortnightly at Withycombe Rugby Football Club in Exmouth.
  • members to agree an (eclectic) range of music to explore and play.
  • to practice and then play these together;

An important objective is to prepare to a standard suitable for performing in public.

Instruments:

  • Most mainstream instruments welcome e.g. stringed, brass, woodwind, keyboards, percussion, vocals.

The 8-piece Music Performance Group meets every fortnight to rehearse.
